Organic agriculture

In Brazil , the search of organic food has grown increasingly in the last few years as external and domestic market as well. This growth is mainly due to a greater interest of consumers regarding health and environmental issues.

Consumers look for products with a production chain that warrantee lack of agrichemicals and a sustainable management.

In 2002 Organización Internacional Agropecuaria opened OIA Sao Pablo office in Brazil. The company started to certify for the domestic market and, together with OIA Argentina, to foreign markets.

OIA certifies products according to the highest demands of the world organic market ( EU , USA , Japan , Canada , etc) and in Brazil , according to the national law 10.831.

This agency offers a certification service with experience in all the agribusiness chain. It certifies animal and vegetal products, food and beverages processing, and inputs, among others. It also provides training programs and certification for groups of producers and associations .

Product Certified as "Organic”

Requirements for labeling :

Besides OIA seal, the label must include :

• Lot number identifying origin and processing

• Phrase: “Certified by Organización Internacional Agropecuaria”

• Name of responsible for production or processing

For the Brazilian domestic market :

• No. of registration of certifier in the National Collegiate Agency

• No. of registration of operator in OIA
