Since October 2002, the organic products that intend to enter the USA must comply with the National Organic Program (NOP) regulated by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). Any organic product to enter the USA must be certified by a certifying body endorsed by the USDA.
OIA was the first Argentine Certifier accredited by the USDA and was endorsed before the limit date set by the Department of Agriculture, enabling from that moment the organic exports of OIA certified producers to the USA.
OIA certifies NOP projects in other countries than Argentina (main office) like in Brazil (OIA's Brazilian office) and Nicaragua among others.
Also, as coordinator of Latin American Certifiers, it promotes the development of new projects in all over the region. |
