Through decrees 851/2021 and 852/2021, published in the Official Gazette, the national government set 0% withholdings on exports of ecological, biological and organic products, and added to the same tariff reduction about 200 agro-industrial products .
In addition, 5 points are reduced in the rate of export duty for wheat, soybeans and corn that have organic certification.
Decree 851/2021 established the export duty rate at 0% for products duly certified and authorized by the competent body.
In addition, it reduced the rate for ecological, biological or organic products subject to international prices and with higher rates by 5 percentage points. In this case, the measure contemplates wheat and wheat flour; corn, beans, flour, pellets and soybean oil and margarines with organic certification.
“Organic production implies the elaboration of differentiated foods through the application of techniques and practices tending to the preservation of the environment and the sustainability of the productive systems”, the Government highlighted.
“The aforementioned way of producing generates a greater use of labor compared to conventional production, the restoration of soils and a valid alternative for a country that seeks to expand its exportable supply of differentiated foods,” it added.
He also indicated that “the demand for organic food represents a market with high development potential at the national level and is growing at the international level.”
“Therefore, it is convenient to encourage the production and export of foods differentiated by their way of production, according to the criterion of promoting greater production of food with added value,” it was insisted.
In the other decree, the Government set —as of January 1, 2022— the Export Right rates for certain tariff positions of the Mercosur Common Nomenclature corresponding to the agro-industrial sector.
“Taking into account the current delicate macroeconomic situation, as well as the need to promote exports for greater growth and development, when choosing the products to be included in this measure, those agricultural products of the regional economies that imply a low price were considered. or no impact on domestic prices”, it was pointed out.
