As of the second day of the year, Resolution 5/2018 entered into force, which requires the production, storage and marketing of BPA.

This Thursday, the second day of the year, Resolution 5/2018 – published on November 21, 2018, entered into the Official Gazette – that included in the “Argentine Food Code (CAA)” the obligation of good agricultural practices (BPA ) in the primary production (crop-harvest) of fruits, from January 2, 2020 and of vegetables from January 4, 2021, and in their storage until their commercialization within the productive establishment.

Throughout the year 2019, professionals from the National Service of Agrifood Health and Quality (Senasa) toured the country training producers on the update of the BPA according to current regulations. The standard indicates that producers must have the assistance of a technician / professional to advise on the implementation of the practices.

In this regard, the National Director of Food Safety and Quality, Alejandro Fernández, said that “the application of GAP in small producers is essential because with their work they supply food to large urban areas. In this way, we promote the obtaining of healthy, safe and quality products, in addition to raising awareness and care for the environment and health of producers and their families. ”
